Week 9/7th time at Bethlehem!

When we met up with our buddies, we finished drawing on the black lines and then we had to make more accessories for our map. Matt started to make a lake and Samantha made a boat to go in it as well as a making a pig.
We had a bit of a problem when girls from Room 9 kept going into the art room and took stuff for their maps, we later found out that it was out of bounds!
We finally got our robot programmed to follow the line, so now it can go through our forest.
Today was the last week that we went out to Bethlehem, but we will still have one more session together next term before our parent sharing night.

Week 7

This week we had to finish drawing our black lines and also we had to get our robot programmed to follow the black line. We succeeded in finishing our black lines. But we didn't succeeded in getting our robot to follow the black line because we were working outside and the sun was too bright, which affected the robot following the lines. Matt and Samantha made some animals and more accessories for our forest, while Sam and I tried to fix the problem of our robot following the line.

Week 6

Room 2 came out late because we had to go to an assembly.

When we finally got there we saw that Matt made a cool bridge. We tried to get the robot to go over it, but it didn’t work because it was too steep, and the light sensors kept hitting the ramp.

Sam and Sam drew the 1.5cm black lines on our forest floor map, and it’s nearly finished.

Next Kendall and Matt tried to program the robot to follow the black line on our map, but it ended up only following the blue line on the school hall.

Week 5

"OH, no buddies!" This week room 2 didn't go out to Bethlehem, so we did robots without our buddies. First we finished putting our 36 pieces of paper together to make our map. Then we drew a thin black line on our map where we want the robot to follow. Next we measured 1.5cm for our thick black line, so the robot can follow our forest map.

Week 4

Programming the robots:

Programming the robots was really fun! We had to use laptops to program our robots to use the touch sensor and light sensor which was fun but hard. The first sensor we used was the touch sensor. We had to make it start from a blue line and bang into a box and come back. We succeeded! Next we had to try to make the robot follow a black line formed into a circle. We didn't do it though.

Forest Floor:

Making our forest floor was awesome! First we had to make a plan of our forest floor, which was a bit boring. Next we had to cellotape 36 pieces of paper together which we haven't finished yet. Then came the fun part! We got to make trees, logs, houses and stuff like that to put on the forst floor. We haven't finished yet but we know we will.

3rd Week

Our group was in the library first working on robots. First we had to program our robot to use the 'bump' sensor, we found this pretty easy to do. Next we had to program the robot to use the 'light' sensors, but ours didn't work out so well, we only got one of the light sensors to go- i think we had the cable in the wrong slot. After morning tea we moved on to making our forest floor. We managed to make a whole lot of 3D tree's with lots of different types of twigs, leaves and even some flowers. Then we decided get started on drawing the line for the robot to follow but we haven't quite finished drawing it out and we've still got to tape 12 more pieces of paper together. Our maps have to be a wopping 36 pieces of A3 paper, all joined together with cellotape. Next week is going to be tricky.

2nd Week

This week we met in their new hall that still smells really new. First we started to design our forest floor, we finally finished designing it on a piece of paper. Next week we are going to put 6 A3 pieces of paper together and make our proper forest floor.
Rm 2 kids- "We ate our morning tea and then we invaded their play ground on the back field." After morning tea the groups switched and we were on programming the robots. First all we had to do was to make the robot move from one line to another and make a noise. BUT, then we had to do something very challenging so challenging that we didn't succeed, we had to make the robot move in a figure of 8 between two markers. Unfortunately we ran out of time and we didn't manage finish our programming.
Next time we just hope we manage to finish our tasks on time.
